LACC Stacks Temporarily Restricted

The stacks in the Latin American & Caribbean Collection will be restricted with no public access to the 4th and 5th floors. This closure is required to undertake an extensive project to identify, remove, and treat items that are impacted by mold spores on both floors. We are taking this action to protect the health and wellbeing of our researchers because of the health risks associated with exposure to mold.

While the stacks are restricted to the public, we hope to minimize inconveniences. Researchers may still request materials from these floors and our staff will retrieve items after ensuring that the items have no visible signs of mold.

Use the LACC Stacks Request Form (also linked below) prior to visiting and your requested books will be retrieved, examined, and held for you at the LACC circulation desk. Please allow 2 to 3 business days for your request to be fulfilled. You will receive an email once the materials are ready for pick-up.

We are working to correct environmental issues on these floors. At this time, we do not know when the stacks will reopen to the public, but we will provide regular updates.

Questions about the status of this project and access to the collection can be directed to lacref@uflib.ufl.edu. Thank you for your patience as we deal with this issue.

Thank you,

LACC Personnel
